[Movies] Joel Edgerton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Cast For The Thing
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.08.2010

- According to The Heat Vision Blog, Joel Edgerton (young uncle Owen in Star Wars) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Grindhouse) has joined the cast for the latest version of The Thing. Here is a brief synopsis of the film…

"Winstead plays a Ph.D. candidate who joins a Norwegian research team in Antarctica after it discovers an alien ship in the ice. When a trapped organism is freed and begins a series of attacks, she is forced to team with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot (Edgerton) to stop the rampage."

- The film is set to start shooting on March 15th in Toronto.

HUGE fan of the Carpenter version (he's one of my favorite directors). But to be far, his version was a remake.

Also this movie isn't a remake but a prequel. So hopefully more people and a whole new audience will check out his version.

Sounds like a first grade garbage. Expected Rotten Tomatoes rating ~10%.

So... I'm guessing that only two of the Norwegian team members survive in the end (the two pilots from the beginning of the first movie)?
